Coffee for clinics and waiting rooms in Ottawa

Fast Coffee puts self-serve bean-to-cup stations in Ottawa clinic waiting rooms. Two ways to run one: patients pay $2.50–$3.85 by card and the clinic costs nothing, or the clinic covers the drinks at $99 a month plus $0.95 each. Either way we install it, stock it and service it.

Waiting rooms we set up

Medical and dental offices along Carling Avenue, Smyth Road and Riverside Drive; the clinic floors on Baseline Road and Clyde Avenue; physiotherapy, dental and walk-in practices on Innes Road and Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard in Orléans; Strandherd Drive in Barrhaven; Eagleson and Hazeldean in Kanata. Veterinary clinics and diagnostic labs run on the same setup.

Front-desk staff handle no cash and no float. Payment is by card at the machine, and we handle the takings.

Why a waiting room suits a bean-to-cup station

  • Each cup is ground and brewed when the button is pressed, so nothing sits stewing in a carafe next to the reception desk.
  • A patient waiting for a delayed appointment gets a latte or a hot chocolate instead of a stack of magazines.
  • Tea and hot chocolate cover the people who avoid coffee before a procedure.
  • The station occupies about one square metre, which is roughly two waiting-room chairs.

Site requirements

A 120V/15A outlet and about a square metre of floor. Water comes from a line where one is available, or from a refillable tank when it is not, which is the usual answer in a leased suite where drilling into the base building is off the table.

Drinks the machine makes

Latte, cappuccino, americano, espresso, mocha, hot chocolate and tea, ground fresh for every order.

Questions from Ottawa clinics

Who pays for the coffee in the waiting room?

Your call. Under the visitor-pays model the patient taps a card for $2.50–$3.85 and the clinic pays nothing, keeping 15% of net revenue or a flat $150 a month. Under the clinic-pays model you cover $99 a month plus $0.95 a drink and everyone drinks free.

Do you need a plumber to install it?

Not with the tank version. It needs a standard outlet and someone to point at the spot. Where a water line already runs to a sink nearby, we can connect to it instead.

Do you serve clinics outside the downtown core?

Yes: Orléans, Barrhaven, Nepean, Kanata, Stittsville and Gatineau are all in the service area, on the same visit schedule as central Ottawa.

Who cleans and restocks it?

We do. Beans, milk product, cleaning cycles, consumables and repairs are on us, and scheduled visits fit around clinic hours.

Two weeks in your waiting room

Tell us the practice, the daily patient count and whether there is a spare outlet by the seating. We install the station, stock it and take it back if it does not earn its square metre.
